James Kalbi Style Chicken (cookinghawaiianstyle)

3 lb chicken thighs


1 c water
2/3 c soy sauce
1/2 c sugar
2 T Asian pear, grated
1 T rice wine
1 T sesame seed oil
1 T garlic, grated
1 T onion, grated
1 T ginger, peeled, grated
1 T sesame seeds, toasted, crushed
1/4 t Korean ground red chili pepper

Place chicken in a shallow dish. Top with marinade ingredients. Cover and refrigerate 2 hours or overnight. Broil or grill on both sides until cooked through. Serves 4 – 6. Note: Feel free to substitute chicken breasts, beef shortribs, pork country style ribs or cutlets.
