Ham, Egg and Cheese Biscuit Wafflewiches (southernbite)

1 16.3 oz pkg flaky layers refrigerated biscuits
6 eggs, lightly scrambled (soft scrambled)
8 slices cheddar cheese
8 pieces thinly sliced smoked ham

Preheat a waffle iron to medium heat and lightly spray it with nonstick cooking spray. Open biscuits and separate each biscuit in half. Stretch the layers thin to about 5 or 6″ in diameter. Top one half of the biscuit with a piece of cheese, a slice of ham and a generous heaping T scrambled eggs. Top with the other half of the biscuit and pinch to seal the edges closed. Place in the waffle iron and close. Cook 4 – 5 min or until the biscuit is golden brown and cooked through. Store the prepared wafflewiches in a warm oven until the others are finished. Serve warm. Makes 8 wafflewiches. Can freeze if desired. To Cook from Frozen: Heat oven to 325° F place on baking sheet for about 8 min or until heated through.

Cheddar and Chive BLT Waffle (myfussyeater)

Waffles

1 1/2 c flour
2 t baking powder
1/2 t baking soda
1/2 t salt
pepper to taste
1/3 c melted butter
2 large eggs
1 1/4 c whole milk
1 c grated strong cheddar cheese
1 t chopped chives

In a bowl mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and pepper. In another bowl whisk together butter, eggs and milk. Add this mix to the dry ingredients and stir just enough to incorporate all the ingredients. Do not over mix. Add cheese and chives and mix gently again. Heat waffle iron and add approx 1/2 c batter to each of the plates. The amount of batter will depend on the size of your waffle iron. Cook for 4 – 6 min until the waffles are starting to get crispy on the outside. Remove and allow to cool while you prepare the sandwich fillings.

Sandwich Filling

8 slices crispy bacon
1 large tomato
handful of lettuce
2 T mayo

Layer the bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo between 2 waffles, cut in half and serve immediately.

Puff Pastry + Bacon + Cheese + Onion Waffle (buzzfeed)

grated cheese(s)
bacon, cooked and crumbled
onion, sauteed
1 sheet puff pastry for each waffle

Spray both sides of your waffle maker with nonstick cooking spray, then lay a sheet of puff pastry dough down on the bottom half. Sprinkle a layer of cheese in the center of the waffle. Add onions and crumbled bacon. Add more cheese. Fold in the edges of your pastry dough over top all and seal the edges (otherwise, the cheese might leak out while it’s cooking). Close your waffle maker and cook until the puff pastry is golden brown and delicious. It’ll take about 5 – 7 min, depending on your waffle maker. Note to Me: Try a pepperoni pizza.

Omelet Waffle

2 eggs
bell peppers (green, red, orange, yellow – your choice)
roma tomatoes
yellow onions
any other veggies
salt and pepper to taste
2 T milk
1 T oil

Wash and dice the vegetables in to a fairly small dice. Crack 2 eggs into a bowl and add salt and pepper for seasoning. Add milk to eggs and whisk together. Mix in veggies. Oil waffle maker really well. Add egg and veggie mix to waffle maker and cook until eggs are firm (don’t pay attention to waffle maker timer.) Serve with some fresh tomatoes and top with shredded cheese if desired. Makes 1 serving.

Savoury Chickpea Waffles (cookinglight)

2 T extra virgin olive oil, divided
1/2 c thinly sliced shallots
1 T chopped fresh thyme, divided
4 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
1/2 c dry white wine
1/2 t kosher salt, divided
1/2 t freshly ground black pepper, divided
3/4 lb chopped tomatoes
3/4 c chickpea (garbanzo bean) flour
3/4 c 1% low-fat milk
1 1/2 oz sharp white cheddar cheese, shredded
1 large egg yolk
1 T cider vinegar, divided
1 t baking powder
1 large egg white
cooking spray
4 large eggs

Heat 1 T oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced shallots, 2 t thyme and garlic; cook 3 min or until shallots are tender. Add wine, ¼ t salt, ¼ t pepper and tomatoes; cook 5 min or until liquid is reduced by half. Lightly spoon flour into a dry measuring cup; level with a knife. Combine flour, milk, remaining 1 T oil, remaining ¼ t salt, remaining ¼ t pepper, cheese and egg yolk in a large bowl, stirring with a whisk until smooth. Add 2 t vinegar and baking powder, stirring well to combine. Beat egg white in a large bowl with a whisk until stiff peaks form (do not over beat). Fold egg white into batter. Preheat waffle iron; coat with cooking spray. Spoon about 1/3 c batter per 4″ waffle onto waffle iron. Cook 5 min. Fill a skillet 2/3 full with water; add remaining 1 t vinegar; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer. Break each whole egg into a custard cup, and pour each gently into pan; cook 3 min or until desired degree of doneness. Carefully remove eggs using a slotted spoon. Place 1 waffle on each of 4 plates; top evenly with tomato mix and eggs. Sprinkle with remaining 1 t thyme. Serves 4.

Chef Capon’s Cheddar Bacon Waffles (fifteenspatulas)

2 c flour
3/4 c sugar
1 t salt
1 T baking powder
3 eggs, separated
1 1/2 c milk
1 c unsalted butter, melted
6 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled
2 1/2 oz grated cheddar cheese
3 scallions, chopped

Preheat your waffle iron. Preheat oven to 200 F. In a large bowl, whisk to combine the flour, sugar, salt and baking powder. Set aside. In another bowl, whisk to combine the egg yolks, milk and butter. Set aside. In a large bowl, use a hand mixer to whip the egg whites to soft peaks. Add wet ingredients to the dry, and mix until they are almost combined. Add the egg whites, bacon, cheese and scallions to the bowl, and gently fold them in until combined. Portion the batter into your waffle iron (the amount will vary by waffle iron, but about 1 c per waffle), and cook for approx 5 min until golden brown. When the waffle has finished cooking, place directly on the wire rack in the oven, to let the steam escape. Finish cooking the remaining waffles, and enjoy!

Restaurant Style Homemade Belgian Waffles (howtothisandthat)

2 c flour
3/4 c sugar
3 t baking powder
1 t baking soda
2 eggs
1/2 c melted butter
1 c milk ( add up to 1/2 c more if needed)
1 t vanilla

Beat eggs, sugar and melted butter in a medium bowl. Add the flour , baking powder, baking soda and half of the milk, mix well. Add the remaining milk, continue mixing. Batter shouldn’t be too thick. Add more milk if need be. Make sure your waffle iron is ready, pour 3/4 c batter or the measurement your iron calls for into the center of the iron. Close the lid, cook according to manufacturers instructions. Serves 4.

Fluffy Applesauce Waffles (100daysofrealfood)

1 3/4 c whole wheat flour
2 t baking powder
1 t cinnamon
1/2 t salt
1 1/2 c milk
4 T butter, melted
1/2 c applesauce
3 eggs, separated

Preheat the waffle iron. Whisk the flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt together in a bowl. Make a well in the center and drop in the milk, melted butter, applesauce and egg yolks. Mix together until well combined and set aside. Meanwhile use an electric mixer to beat the egg whites until fluffy and forming stiff peaks. Carefully fold the egg whites into the batter – do not overmix. Follow manufacturers instructions with your waffle iron to make the batter into waffles.

Buckwheat Waffles (verybreakfast)

1 c buckwheat flour
1 egg
3/4 c Greek plain yogurt
1/2 c milk, more if needed
2 T olive oil
1 1/2 t baking powder
pinch of salt

Add buckwheat flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl and mix together. Add egg, yogurt, milk and olive oil to the bowl. Mix together. You are looking for quite a thick batter consistency. It’s to be spooned into the iron rather than poured. If batter is too thick or too thin adjust with adding more flour or more milk and mixing well. Spoon approx 3 T batter into each waffle iron section and cook for approx 5 min. Makes 6 waffles. Note to Me: Might need some sugar.

Waffle Iron Grilled Cheese Sandwich (fifteenspatulas)

2 slices sandwich bread
3 oz cheddar cheese or processed cheese
2 T salted butter at room temp

Preheat the waffle iron while you assemble the sandwich. Spread one slice of bread with butter, only on one side (this is the side that will have direct contact with the waffle iron). Place the cheese slices on top of this slice of bread, then spread the other slice of bread with butter, only on one side. Place the unbuttered side against the cheese, then place this entire sandwich on the waffle iron. Close the top of the waffle iron, but do not press down and smash the sandwich as the weight of the iron will press on its own. Let this cook for 3 – 5 min until the bread is brown and crispy and the cheese has melted. Enjoy!

Ham and Egg Waffle Sandwich

1  pkg refrigerated biscuits
1 egg (cooked any way you like it, scrambled, omelet or fried)
1 slice processed cheese
1 slice ham

Preheat and grease a waffle iron. Split biscuit in half and stretch each half to about 5″ in diameter. Place cheese, ham and egg on top. Put the other half of the biscuit on top and seal the edges. Put your breakfast sandwich in the waffle iron and close. Cook 4 – 5 min or until the sandwich is golden brown and cooked through. Makes 1 sandwich.

Tater Tot Waffle Grilled Cheese (thrillist)

1,  2 lb bag frozen tater tots
1/2 t kosher salt
4 – 6 slices bacon
1 large jalapeño, de-seeded and coarsely chopped
8 slices sharp cheddar cheese

Preheat waffle iron to the highest setting. In a large microwave-safe bowl, microwave tater tots for 4 min. Spread half the tots in an even layer on the waffle iron, but really crowd them in there. Sprinkle with half the salt. Close the iron and cook until crisp, following the manufacturer’s instructions for timing, about 8 – 10 min. Transfer waffle to a wire rack and make the other waffle with the remaining tots and salt. While the second waffle cooks, place bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat until crispy. Transfer to a paper-towel-lined plate. Add jalapeño to the skillet and cook for 2 min in the rendered bacon fat. Transfer jalapeño to the bacon plate. Don’t remove the second waffle from the iron when it’s done. Evenly arrange half the cheese on the waffle and top with bacon and jalapeño. Layer remaining cheese over that and place the first waffle on top. Gently press the waffle iron lid down but not all the way closed. Wait until the cheese melts, about 2 min, then flip the whole waffle sandwich over onto a plate. Cut into four. Yield: 4 servings.

Potato, Egg and Cheese Waffles (scatteredthoughtsofacraftymom)

1 1/3 c Simply Potatoes Southwest Style Hash Browns
1 egg
3 slices bacon, cooked and diced
1/8 c shredded cheese, more if desired
salt and pepper to taste

Preheat waffle iron. In mixing bowl combine potatoes, egg, bacon, cheese and salt and pepper. Spray waffle iron with non-stick cooking oil. Split potato mix between two waffle wells. Let waffles cook about 5 min or until they’re golden brown and cooked through. Serve warm and enjoy! Makes 2 waffles.

Waffles Using A Muffin Mix (foodpinsnow)

To turn the muffin mix into a waffle mix, follow the package directions but add an extra 1/3 – 1/2 c milk or water. The batter should flow slowly, like a thick pancake batter. For a 16 oz box of muffin mix, add an extra 1/2 c liquid; for a 12 – 14 oz box, add an extra 1/3 c; and for a 20 oz box, add just under 3/4 c.

Cheesy Leftover Mashed Potato Waffles (justataste)

2 T vegetable oil
1/4 c buttermilk
2 large eggs
2 1/2 c leftover mashed potatoes
3 T chopped scallions
1 c shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 c flour
1/2 t baking powder
1/4 t baking soda
sour cream, for serving

Preheat the waffle baker and grease it with cooking spray. In large bowl, whisk together oil, buttermilk and eggs. Stir in the mashed potatoes, scallions and cheese until well combined. 

In a separate small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and baking soda. Fold the flour mix into the potato mix until it’s well combined. 

Scoop 1/2 – 2/3 c (depending on the size of your waffle baker) of the mix into the prepared waffle baker, spreading it into an even layer. (The potato mix will not spread or expand as much as a regular waffle, so it’s important to spread it in an even layer.) Close the lid and let the waffle bake until golden brown and the egg is cooked throughout. Transfer the waffle to a serving plate then repeat the filling and baking process with the remaining potato mix. Serve the potato waffles topped with sour cream and garnished with additional chopped scallions. Notes: Leftover mashed potatoes will vary in consistency depending on how much cream, milk or melted butter was added to the original batch. If the waffle batter looks too dry and isn’t holding together, add one more egg. If it looks too wet, add more flour 1 t at a time, until the mix is cohesive. Do not lift up the waffle baker lid too soon or you’ll risk having the mix separate and stick to the waffle baker. Allowing the waffle to cook through before opening the waffle baker ensures the waffle can be removed whole. Yield: 2 – 3 waffles.

Super Simple Biscuits & Sausage Gravy (simplegreenmoms)

1 16 oz Pillsbury Grands Biscuits
1 9.6 oz pkg Jimmy Dean Original Hearty Pork
1/4 c flour
2 1/2 c whole milk
1/2 t red pepper powder (opt)
salt and ground black pepper to taste

Cook sausage in large skillet over medium-high heat 5 – 7 min or until browned. Gradually stir in milk and flour. Continue to stir and cook until mix thickens. Reduce heat to medium-low and let simmer for a few min. Add in seasonings and continue to stir. Preheat waffle iron to medium-high heat. Place 1 biscuit round into each section of your waffle iron and close gently. Cook for 2 – 3 min or until biscuits are golden brown. Repeat with remaining biscuits. Place 2 biscuits on a plate and top with sausage gravy. Serve immediately. Serves 4.

Oatmeal Waffles (butterwithasideofbread)

1 1/2 c flour
1 c oats
1 T baking powder
1/2 t cinnamon
1/4 t salt
2 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 c milk
6 T melted butter
2 T brown sugar

Combine the flour, oats, baking powder, cinnamon and salt in a large bowl. In a separate bowl mix together the eggs, milk, butter and brown sugar. Pour this mix into the dry mix and stir well. Bake in a waffle iron until golden brown. Enjoy!

Waffled Pizza Pockets (lovelylittlekitchen)

Pizzas

8 large tortillas
1 c mozzarella cheese or to taste
4 T pizza sauce or to taste
1 pepperoni slices to taste
melted butter, for brushing on waffle iron

Preheat waffle iron. Assemble pizza pockets with about 1 – 2 T pizza sauce spread onto 1 tortilla and 1/4 c cheese plus any toppings on the other. Leave a little bit of a border around the edge of the tortilla so that the toppings won’t leak out in the waffle maker. When the waffle iron is ready, brush a bit of butter onto the top and bottom plates. This will make the outside of the tortilla nice and crispy. Place the tortilla with cheese and toppings on the bottom plate of the waffle maker, then top with the other tortilla. Close waffle iron and let the pizza pocket cook until it beeps. Remove from the waffle iron, allow to cool slightly then slice into quarters. Serves 4.

Waffle Iron Omelettes (thecozycook)

3 eggs
1/8 c shredded cheddar cheese
1/8 c favorite omelet fillings
salt and pepper to taste
vegetable spray

Whisk eggs and filling ingredients together until well blended. Coat top and bottom of iron with vegetable spray and preheat (kept on the “min” setting left the eggs light and fluffy.) Add omelette ingredients and close lid. Check on eggs each minute until desired texture is reached. Shut off heat and remove carefully with tongs or fork. Serve and prepare to be amazed. Yield: 1 – 2 servings.

Filling Suggestions: Chopped onions, peppers, pepperoni, black olives, precooked sausage, tomatoes, bacon and pulled pork.

Club Soda Waffles (thepajamachef)

2 c flour
2 T baking powder
3 T unsalted butter, cubed
1 egg
3/4 c canola oil
1 1/3 c club soda

Preheat waffle maker. In a large bowl, stir together flour and baking powder. Add cubed butter and cut in with 2 knives or a pastry cutter until fully incorporated. Then add egg, oil and club soda and stir gently until combined. Do not over mix! Spoon batter into hot waffle maker in 1/2 c increments. Cook until crisp. Serve with powdered sugar, fruit and yogurt, or your desired toppings! Yield: 6 waffles. Note: Can substitute 2 c Bisquick mix or the like for the flour, baking powder, and butter. The original recipe advises that uncooked batter does not keep because of the club soda, so make all the waffles at one and then reheat if necessary. Can use a toaster or toaster oven to do this.
